The World Bank mission visited the Osh region within the RED Project
The World Bank mission carried out a working visit to the Osh region as part of the implementation of the “Regional Economic Development Project in the Osh Region and Osh City” (RED), aimed at improving urban infrastructure, developing tourism potential and strengthening the socio-economic opportunities of the region.
The World Bank delegation included T. Gogotishvili, urban development senior specialist, T. Zhukusheva, disaster risk management senior specialist, as well as relevant World Bank specialists.
The mission visited the sites in the city of Uzgen
On November 14, a delegation of the World Bank, together with representatives of ARIS, visited the following sites implemented under the Project:
• City Stadium and Orto-Korgon Park
• Pedestrian bridge
• Aznabakiev Park
The progress and quality of construction work, compliance with social and environmental standards were reviewed at the sites. During meetings with contractors, technical supervision and representatives of local governments, current progress, emerging issues and further steps to implement activities in the city of Uzgen were discussed.
The mission visited the sites in Osh city
On November 15, the World Bank mission continued its inspection of facilities in the city of Osh:
• A. Navoi Park
• Improvement of the western and eastern banks of the Ak-Buura River
Mission reviewed the dynamics of construction work and their contribution to the formation of a modern, safe and accessible urban environment.
Meetings were also held with participants in the RED Small Grants Program, aimed at supporting local initiatives and developing small businesses in the city of Osh and surrounding areas.
During the visit, the parties discussed the work done, the difficulties identified, and also agreed on further steps for the effective and timely implementation of Project activities in the Osh region and the city of Osh.
