ADB Representatives Visited the Naryn Region
On 30th April 2025, the ADB Safeguards Mission led by Sophio Omanadze, Senior Social Development Specialist (Safeguards) of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), visited the Naryn region to check compliance with social safeguards in the villages covered by the Naryn Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Development Program.
The Mission Leader visited Naryn Oblast accompanied by a team of specialists, including Social Safeguards Specialist of the ADB Kyrgyz Resident Mission – Mrs. Nargiza Kudaiberdieva, Resettlement Consultant of the ADB Kyrgyz Resident Mission – Mr. Chyngyz Sydykov, and ARIS specialists. The mission visited Uchkun village in Naryn district, where it reviewed the progress of mobilization activities as part of civil works for drinking water supply system in this village.
In addition, the Mission became familiar with the water supply system that has been put into operation in the Zhan-Bulak village in the Naryn region, in particular, the Mission members visited the site of the water tower, observing the functioning of this facility.
Based on the visit results, the Mission members positively assessed the implementation progress under the Program, and also provided their recommendations for increasing the effectiveness of activities in terms of compliance with social safeguards during implementation of construction and installation works.
We remind that the " Naryn Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Development Program" is being implemented with the financial support by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Asian Development Bank. The Program main objective is to ensure access to safe drinking water supply and improved sanitation for rural residents of Naryn region, which will be achieved through extension of infrastructure and development of institutional capacity.
