SRWSSDP: The World Bank Officials Visited Laboratories at KSTU

 

On February 2, 2026 the World Bank delegation visited laboratory rooms at the Kyrgyz State Technical University with state-of-the-art equipment for education and training of professionals for water supply and wastewater disposal sector.

The delegation members familiarized themselves with two special laboratories and two classrooms established and equipped through the support from the Sustainable Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Development Project.

State-of-the-art education and laboratory infrastructure established at the KSTU is aimed at professional staff development, introduction of up-to-date education technologies and improvement of academic process for the sector. It is important to use such infrastructure for training and professional development of water supply operators’ personnel. Practice-based training using new equipment shall enhance the institutional capacity and sustainable development of the sector.

The visit was paid by

- Sameh Wahba, Regional Director for Sustainable Development for Europe and Central Asia;

- Hugh Riddel, Country Manager:

- Mirlan Chynybaev, Rector of KSTU;

- Mars Naspekov, Executive Director, ARIS;

- World Bank, ARIS and KSTU staff.

The visit included presentation and demonstration of new laboratories, equipment and classrooms. The visitors noted on the level of equipment and practical aim of the educational process.

During discussion, Sameh Wahba underlined the importance of investing in the staff capacity development and upgrading the infrastructure stating that education and training of skilled staff was a key to sustainable development of the sector thus improving the livelihoods of people.

The support from the Project shall facilitate development of modern education and laboratory infrastructure, institutional capacity and training of skilled staff towards sustainable sector development.
