Public Hearings Held in the Kochkor District of the Naryn Region.

 

As part of implementation of "Naryn Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Development Program– Additional Financing" (Program), public hearings were held in several villages of the Kochkor District, Naryn region, where drinking water supply systems are planned for construction.

On February 3 – 6, 2025 the public hearings with participation of local residents from the following villages: Semiz-Bel and Tendik in the Ormon-Khan Aiyl Aimak, Arsy in the Kum-Doba Aiyl Aimak, Epkin in the Cholpon Aiyl Aimak, and Kyzyl-Dөbө in the Kara-Suu Aiyl Aimak of Kochkor District were held.

During the hearings, general information about the Program was presented. Participants were introduced to the Program goals and objectives. Also, the information on ongoing activities related to institutional development, sanitation and hygiene, Beneficiary Feedback Mechanism (BFM) and environmental and social safeguards measures has been presented.

Furthermore, Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) for construction of drinking water supply systems in the aforementioned villages were presented. Representatives from the design institution presented schemes for the future water supply systems and design solutions to the participants.

Following the discussions, the EMPs for the construction period, schemes for water supply systems and design solutions for the aforementioned villages were unanimously approved by the participants of public hearings.

The Program is being implemented under the strategic documents of the Kyrgyz Republic aimed at developing the drinking water supply and sanitation systems in populated areas of the country, and it is financed by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Asian Development Bank.

The Executing Agency is the for the Drinking Water Supply and Sewerage Development Department under the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, while ARIS is the Implementing Agency.
