Oblast-level Round Tables Completed Under the NCIP

Today, October 9, a round table was held in the city of Manas as part of the implementation of the National Community Initiatives Project (NCIP). Participants included the First Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic in Jalal-Abad Oblast N.M. Ermatov, representatives of the relevant government bodies, heads of pilot Ayil Okmotus and chairs of Ayil Keneshes included in the project, as well as representatives of the business sector.

The overall coordination of the project is carried out by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic. The total project financing amounts to US$27 million.

The goal of the NCIP is to improve access to climate-resilient socio-economic infrastructure and to enhance economic opportunities for women and youth in target communities.

The project is consistent with the conceptual programs and strategic plans of the Kyrgyz Republic and is implemented on the basis of socio-economic development programs of rural territories and community-driven initiatives.

The National Community Initiatives Project covers 40 Ayil Aimaks across 40 districts in seven Oblasts of Kyrgyzstan. Under the project, grants are provided for sub-projects related to the rehabilitation of social facilities. These grants represent significant support for target communities and local self-governments in implementing priority small-scale investment sub-projects included in the local Socio-Economic Development Programs (SEDPs).

In addition, a similar round table was held on October 8 in Osh Oblast. Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic in Osh Oblast I.A. Tashbaev took part in that event.
