ARIS Executive Director visited water supply subproject in Kurmontu, Issyk-Kul Region
On January 22, 2026 the ARIS Executive Director Mars Naspekov reviewed the progress of construction and rehabilitation of water supply system in Kurmontu subproject being implemented under the Sustainable Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Development Project in Issyk-Kul Region. The Project Coordinator and team also participated in the trip. Routine meetings with contractors included discussion of ongoing works, compliance with timelines and quality.
This water supply rehabilitation subproject covers over 4’700 people in the two villages i.e. Ak-Bulak and Kurmontu. The subproject is 95% complete being at final stage of implementation. In addition, onsite treatment plant is being constructed on a pilot basis with sewerage disposal system, which would help significantly improve the sanitation status in the village and ensure environmentally friendly collection and treatment of sewages.
Following the site visit, Executive Director underlined that the objective was not to construct the new scheme only but also to ensure its long-term, efficient and safe operation for local people.
