ADB Mission Visited Naryn Region
Today, on December 4th of 2025, an Asian Development Bank (ADB) mission led by Mr. Jaemin Nam, Head of Sector Projects Division (Water and Urban Development Sector Office, Sector Department 2), and Mr. Yuto Hyakukan, the new Naryn Program Team Leader, visited Naryn Oblast.
The mission reviewed the water supply systems and sanitation facilities being implemented by the Community Development and Investment Agency of the Kyrgyz Republic (ARIS) under the Naryn Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Development Program.
During the visit, the Mission visited Zhan-Bulak and Zhalgyz-Terek villages in Naryn District, where water supply systems were constructed and commissioned in 2024, and also visited the Secondary School named after A. Zhutakeev and the Feldsher Midwife Station (FAP) named after K. Maatkazieva, where sanitation facilities were rehabilitated. The mission also inspected ongoing construction works in Zherge-Tal village in Naryn district.
Mr. Jaemin Nam has highly assessed works accomplished in implementing the Program, noting significant progress in providing rural communities with high-quality water supply and sanitation services. He emphasized that the results achieved are an important step toward improving the living conditions of the population in the region. He also emphasized the need for strict adherence to ADB requirements and standards, which is key to the successful completion of current and future Program activities.
The Naryn Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Development Program financed by the Asian Development Bank with the support of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic covers 43 villages in the region. Upon completion of the Program, more than 100,000 residents of the region will have access to improved water sources, and the proportion of the population using water supply services with observing the safety requirements will increase.
