Workshop "Procurement within the framework of ARIS projects: current approaches and new opportunities for cooperation"

The Community Development and Investment Agency of the Kyrgyz Republic (ARIS) held a workshop for the business community. The event aimed to provide information on ARIS ongoing and planned projects, as well as upcoming procurement of goods, works, and services. Engaging private sector representatives facilitates greater business participation in project implementation, improving transparency and efficiency, as well as the quality of supplies and services.
The workshop brought together a wide range of participants, including representatives from the banking sector, construction organizations, suppliers, consulting and insurance companies, and other potential partners and stakeholders.
ARIS Deputy Executive Director Asel Mambetkulova presented information on ARIS's activities and noted that expanding the participation of qualified suppliers, contractors, and consultants is an important aspect of implementing projects aimed at improving social infrastructure, agriculture, tourism, water supply, and other sectors. It was also noted that ARIS projects are aligned with sustainable development goals.
Irina Goncharova, Senior Procurement Specialist at the World Bank Country Office in Kyrgyz Republic, informed participants about the significant contribution of World Bank projects to the country's regional economic development. In her presentation, she highlighted the key procurement principles of achieving the best value for money, cost effectiveness, efficiency, fairness, transparency, open and fair competition, and integrity. She also emphasized the importance of active business participation in the supply of goods, execution of works, and provision of services in World Bank-financed projects.
ARIS specialists presented extensive information on upcoming projects and tenders for civil works, special purpose equipment, furniture for schools and kindergartens, laboratory equipment, and other projects.
Ulanbek Chonoev, Environmental and Social Specialist at ARIS, informed workshop participants about the importance of adhering to the Environmental and Social Management Plan. He emphasized the need for timely identification of environmental and social risks, compliance with occupational safety standards, proper management of construction waste, and ensuring the safety of local communities. The importance of open engagement with the public and transparent consideration of requests during project implementation was also emphasized.
ARIS expresses its gratitude to all participants for their active participation, constructive dialogue, and interest in collaboration. Such events contribute to increased transparency and efficiency in the procurement process, as well as timely information to the market about planned procurements and participation requirements.
