World Bank Implementation Support Mission to the National Community Initiatives Project Launches

 

On June 9, the World Bank Implementation Support Mission for the National Community Initiatives Project (NCIP) commenced its work. Over the course of the week, discussions are planned on the key arrangements for implementing the NCIP in the Kyrgyz Republic, including the stages and methods of social mobilization, engagement with local self-governments, capacity-building activities, financial management and procurement issues, and communication strategies for broadly informing beneficiaries about the project's goals, objectives, and benefits. A baseline study to be conducted within the framework of NCIP implementation will also be reviewed.

The World Bank Mission is represented at the meeting by:

Mr. Christopher Finch — Senior Social Development Specialist, Team Leader;

Ms. Luiza Nora — Senior Social Development Specialist, Team Leader;

Ms. Damira Temirbaeva — Social Development Specialist.

It should be noted that the development objective of the National Community Initiatives Project is to improve access to climate-resilient socio-economic infrastructure and to create enhance economic opportunities for the population. The executive body of the NCIP is the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic. Project implementation is entrusted to the Community Development and Investment Agency (ARIS).
