The World Bank reviewed the progress of projects in the Osh region

 

On February 3, 2026, a working visit of the World Bank delegation to the Osh region took place. During the visit, the sites of ongoing projects aimed at the socio-economic development of the region and improving the quality of life of the population were visited.

The World Bank delegation included:

Sameh Naguib Wahba, World Bank Regional Director for Sustainable Development in Europe and Central Asia and Hugh Riddell, the head of the World Bank office in the Kyrgyz Republic.

On the part of ARIS, the following people took part in the visit:

Erlan Korchubay uulu, coordinator of the SDRWSS project;

Shailoobek Arynov, coordinator of the RED project, as well as specialists from the World Bank and ARIS.

As part of the Regional Economic Development (RED) project, the delegation reviewed the results of supporting enterprises in the agro-processing sector. Eco Azyk LLC (value chain - berry products) and Ala-Too Amir LLC (value chain - dairy products) received financial and technical support.

Loan agreements worth 35 million soms were concluded with each enterprise, under which modern technological equipment for processing, sorting, and production of agricultural products was supplied. The implementation of these measures aims to modernize production processes, improve product quality, and strengthen the competitiveness of local producers.

The delegation also visited a facility within the framework of the project “Sustainable Development of Rural Water Supply and Sanitation” - the reservoir site of the Otuz-Adyr sub-project. During the visit, information was provided on the project's implementation, including the modernization of the water supply system, strengthening the municipal enterprise's institutional capacity, equipping it with operational and maintenance equipment, and carrying out activities to improve specialists' skills and inform the population.

The implementation of the sub-project aims to provide residents of the village of Otuz-Adyr with sustainable access to quality drinking water and improve sanitation conditions.

The visit allowed them to get acquainted with the current results of project implementation and assess the progress of work on the ground.
